***************
Back in April, one of my bestfriends and I packed up our overnight bags and drove up island to the beautiful Tigh Na Mara Resort. Our adorable little bungalow was complete with a fireplace, luxurious bed and a bottle of wine chilled on ice awaiting our arrival. We arrived around lunch time, turned on the fire, parked ourselves on the couches and poured ourselves some vino. Later, we ventured over to the Spa* for our facials and some serious relaxation. After our facials we indulged in some cucumber and champagne cocktails followed by a soak in the mineral pool. We then made our way to the Tree Top Tapas and Grill where we dined on the most scrumptious food for about four hours. The best part? We didn't even have to change out of our robes. We made it to the beach just in time to pop our bottle of Veuve and watch the sun set into the distance. When all was dark, we joined a couple of people on the beach for the first bon fire of summer**. The next morning, we went for a swim, soak and sauna at the regular pool and then went for more food at the Cedar Dining Lounge. There Sunday brunch buffet was overwhelming to say the least. Maddy and I didn't know where to begin - the dessert table, fondue station, kids cookie station, oatmeal station, seafood, salad, carving, omelets or the regular buffet table. After yet another extremely fulfilling meal we made our way to the beach to soak up the sun and take advantage of the low tide. Upon leaving Tigh Na Mara, we went and strolled around the little town of Qualicum and eventually made our way to Nanaimo to have a much needed visit with our good friend Mare and her adorable little family. All in all, a wonderful weekend away.
*Although our bungalow was no more than 30 paces to the Spa we managed to be late for our appointments. Classic Mary and Maddy.
**We still hadn't changed out of our robes.
